Research into VDES has highlighted the need for advanced antenna technologies capable of supporting higher data rates and broader maritime communication requirements. Satellite-enabled VDES can potentially extend maritime data exchange beyond traditional terrestrial coverage, supporting applications involving navigation information, meteorological data, traffic information, and other maritime services.
